The Wacky Wine Weekend
Save the dates, June 7-10, 2012, for the Wacky Wine Weekend, South Africa’s largest regional wine and lifestyle festival, showcasing 50 wineries and featuring unique events during the four-day annual event.
Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or a novice, don’t miss the inspiring annual Wacky Wine Weekend in the scenic Robertson Wine Valley. During the four-day wine festival, you’ll enjoy a multitude of wine-themed delights including wine-tastings, wine and food pairings and presentations. This family friendly festival also includes activities for the kids.
The Wacky Wine Weekend is South Africa’s not-to-miss festival stimulating the senses with conventional wine experiences, such as master and/or private tastings, wine and food pairings and presentations. Expanding the wine experience, the event adds cheese and olive tastings and culinary experiences with oysters, perlemoen, sushi, riverside picnics, Italian cuisine and “potjiekos.”
The festival also includes unique unconventional options to bring the entertainment level up a notch. The four-day line-up also includes brandy tours and tastings, vineyard tractor trips, river cruises, sunset game drives, and a simulated rodeo bull. Active attendees can participate in the mountain bike challenge or a half marathon. Purchase a bottle of Robertson Valley Wine while you listen to performances from local musical artists and a new original theater production.
The festival weekend is also family-friendly and includes an array of activities for children, such as fishing, farmyard tours, pony rides, face painting and paint-ball.
With its Zero Tolerance Policy of drinking and driving, guests have the option of participating in several no-driving options. Register for the free Designed Driver Program and receive complimentary coffee, soft drinks and special deals. For additional cost, the Buddy Bus offers chauffeur driven mini bus to groups of seven or more. For those opting to stay in Cape Town, purchase your Wacky Weekend Bus-In Packages from A2B Tours. The Bus-in Package includes one day bus transportation to and from Waterfront, Tygervalley, Stellenbosch (Butterfly World) and Paarl, to Robertson and between the participating wineries.
Cost for the Wacky Wine Weekend passport is R90.00, purchased at participating wineries. Valid for the whole weekend, the passport includes tasting glass, water bottle, and a goodie bag with coupons and deals. Optional activities are pay-as-you-go.
