The Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town
The Two Oceans Marathon is presented by Nike each year with various racing events held on the breathtaking sea side of Cape Town.
The Race
Around 20,000 participants take on the Two Oceans Marathon each year. The experience is known as a marathon with high global appeal, held on the beautiful seaside of Cape Town. The Two Oceans Marathon holds up to its unique name by that the course passes both oceans that surround the South African Shoreline.
The Contestants
Runners from all over the world travel to Cape Town to participate in what has become one of the most beautiful marathons around. The Two Oceans Marathon event includes a 56km marathon that takes participants on a beautiful route from Cape Town's Newlands through Chapman's Peak and all of the way to Noordhoek.
The Dates and the Details
The Two Oceans Marathon will be held on Easter weekend April 6 and 7 of 2012. In addition to the ultra 56 km marathon, there will be a 21 (half) km, an expo, and many festivities held over the weekend.
The trail run and fun runs during the Two Oceans Marathon weekend have gained extreme popularity by travelers as well as locals who would like to participate, without the training time that the longer marathon requires. Entry fees range in prices, perfect for any Cape Town travel budget.
